Spring breezes swept through Güzel İşler Fabrikası (GİF), TÜRGEV’s educational campus project. Young people from Istanbul came together at the “Spring Gatherings” held from May 15 to 19, 2024, at GİF Safveti Paşa in Sirkeci.
Participants in the Spring Gatherings had the opportunity to experience some of the trainings offered throughout the year at GİF campuses. In the workshops on paper, fragrance, candle, and chocolate making, they produced their own items. They learned classical techniques such as woodblock printing, engraving painting, and watercolor. In the punch embroidery and felt brooch workshops, they explored innovative methods.
Throughout Youth Week, GİF Safveti Paşa also hosted art and culture talks. Our Foundation Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatmanur Altun and theatre director Ayşe Şahinboy Doğan attracted young people’s interest with their interactive discussion on the importance of art.
One of the discussion guests, digital content creator Recep Tayyip Çelik, gave a talk on approaching storytelling from a digital perspective and answered participants’ questions about popular social media trends.
Playwright and actor Nurdan Albamya İnce shared her experiences while answering young people’s questions about theatre.
