The launch of the Mevlanakapı Children’s Library and Workshop Center project, carried out by TÜRGEV to enhance its social interaction with the neighborhoods where its dormitories are located, took place.
Supported by the Istanbul Development Agency and implemented in partnership with Ibn Haldun University and the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, the project was introduced to the public by our Board Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatmanur Altun.
Speaking about the reasons behind the project’s inception, Altun said, “In this project, which we hope will be a hopeful step for children ages zero to twelve and their families living in Istanbul, we set out to build not only a library but also a development and support center. Our aim is to offer every kind of opportunity needed for our children to discover and develop their talents and to grow up as healthy individuals.”
Mentioning that the center also organizes seminars, workshops and events for parents, she emphasized that to date the project has served more than twice the number of individuals originally targeted. Altun thanked the students involved in the center’s activities and those who contributed to the project for their dedication, noting especially the positive feedback received from residents of the Mevlanakapı neighborhood.
The launch was attended by the children who inspired the project along with their parents, and by Istanbul Governor Mr. Davut Gül.
The Mevlanakapı Children’s Library and Workshop Center will continue its activities by guiding children according to themes, offering various intelligence and developmental assessments, workshops, information sessions for parents, social activities and psychological support services.
We would be delighted to see you at the Mevlanakapı Children’s Library and Workshop Center, and we hope that our project will bring benefits to our nation.
